RISE: The Body at Work

RISE developed from The Body at Work, a research project examining the body as a site of labour, performance and exchange.
Made collaboratively with pole and aerial chains performers Maya Luna and Ella Mitchell, the film centres on their relationship to the practice. Moving between preparation and performance, RISE follows bodies trained to fall and rise again. Through conversations around the history, community and physical demands of the discipline, the film explores the strength and sense of belonging found within it.
